Waiver provision applicable to functioning tests.
After five (5) consecutive production lots manufactured by a contractor
have successfully passed functioning test requirements and have been
accepted for service use, the contracting officer or the test activity
shall have the authority to waive functioning tests for subsequent lots
produced (maximum of three successive lots) if it is reasonably assured
that this reduction in the number of lots tested will not result in loss
of quality maintained in the first five lots produced. Should 2 lot
fail to pass functioning test during this reduced firing arrangement,
firing of every lot shall be resumed until five (5) more consecutive
lots have been successfully fired after which the reduced firing tests
may be resumed. During the course of the reduced firing plan, the test
activity may revert to testing of each or any particular lot as is
considered appropriate to guarantee continued quality for service use.
