MIL-L-16727D (AS)
NOTES
6.
Intended use. The links are intended for assembling
6.1
into 20mm ammunition belts for use with the 20mm aircraft gun MARK 12.
Each link consists of one or two round retainers and one connecting
loop, joined together so as not to be readily separated. The MARK 2
MOD 1 link is used as an end link; (either leading or trailing) all
other links in the belt are MARK 2 MOD 2. The complete belt is
capable of being drawn through either a flexible or rigid chuting
arrangement which may be twisted and turned into various configurations.
The links are capable of being stripped transversely from the round
of ammunition by the feed mechanism in such a manner that the belt
disintegrates and the links expended through the link ejection chute.
