Acceptance of the preproduction sample shall be based on no defects. Any
production by the supplier prior to approval of the preproduction lot shall
be at the supplier's risk.
Quality conformance inspection sampling, The sampling

plans and procedures set forth in Standard MIL-STD-105 shall be used in
the determination of acceptability of the links tested and inspected as
specified in 4.5 and 4,6.

Examination.
Components. Prior to acceptance of the links, it shall

be ascertained that all components procured under separate documents
have been inspected, tested, and accepted in accordance with their
respective documents.
Tests.
4.6
Acceptance tests.
4.6.1
Visual and mechanical inspection. Link samples selected
4.6.1.1
in accordance with 4.4.2 shall be tested for conformance to 3.2, 3,3, 3.4,
3.5, 3.11, and 3.12. When applicable, a link acting under its own weight
shall be able to pivot about or drop out of a go gage and shall not be
able to pivot about or drop out of a no go gage. Lot quality shall be
judged in accordance with Standard MIL-STD-105, General Inspection
Level II, Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) 1.0 percent defective for
major defects, plus 2.5 percent defective for minor defects. Classification
of defects for the MARK 2 MOD 1 link shall be in accordance with NAVORD
OCD 1212380. Classification of defects for the MARK 2 MOD 2 link shall
be in accordance with NAVORD OCD 1252961.
Salt Spray resistance test. After the links have

received the protective coating specified in 3.5.2, samples shall be
selected in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Inspection level S-4, acceptance
number zero, and subjected to the test of Federal Test Method Standard
No. 151, Method 811.1, for 48 hours. The links shall meet the require-
ments of 3.6.1. The salt spray test shall be conducted on unassembled
link components. Test links shall not be reused for other tests, nor
shall they be delivered to the Government as units of production.
